TRAINING ON THE LAWS PROHIBITING FGM.

🔍 Empowering Future Legal Minds!

Female Lawyer’s Association – Gambia held a day long training of law students from the Faculty of Law, University of The Gambia, on Saturday 21st June 2025 at the Paradise Suites Hotel.

The training delved deep into The Gambia’s legal framework prohibiting Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and the severity of the health complications surrounding FGM. This intensive one-day training equipped participants with the knowledge and tools to become strong advocates for justice and human rights. Students were exposed to both domestic and international laws prohibiting FGM, and they were given real-life case studies to resolve and to present their findings to their colleagues. The participants were issued with certificates of participation at the end of the training.

From exploring landmark legislation to understanding enforcement challenges, the future of legal advocacy against FGM is believed to be in great hands.
